A couple weeks ago, we celebrated my son’s 6th birthday with a surprise party at the Lego Store. It was the first time we’ve thrown either of our kids a surprise party. My son’s current obsession (along with video games) is Legos so we thought a Lego Store party would be perfect! Most of his cousins are Lego fans too, so it was a win for all the kids. His birthday was the Wednesday before and he thought he wasn’t getting a party. He was pretty bummed about this. I gave him a speech about how he was very lucky to always get birthday parties and presents; not all children are as fortunate. He actually listened! He sadly agreed and that was the end of it.
When my husband brought him to the room, everyone yelled “surprise!” and he hid behind his Daddy. Typical reaction, but cute! His cousins had to pry him out from behind his Daddy and gave him hugs-soo cute!
It was a cool lil party of kids playing with Legos in their own private area and then grab-bag of the “Lego Wall”. Pretty awesome! We followed with some yummy chocolate chip lego cupcakes (made by my friend Jill) and presents.
All the kids had a great time playing, eating and I had NO mess to clean up!
I’m blessed to have been able to celebrate my baby’s birth and to have given him a cool party. Happy Birthday to my Chrissy Poo!
